Esophageal carcinoma treated with a Z-Stent
(See also Stent discriptions)
Z-Stent Deployment of metal stents to bridge esophageal obstruction and facilitate passage of food is strictly palliative in nature. Different types of stents are available depending on the type of stenosis and itīs localisation. This picture shows a coated Z- stent bridging a circular and stenosing carcinoma of the esophagus. The coating is meant to prevent rapid penetration of the metall tissue by the progressing tumor.
