Inflammatory stenosis
inflammatory stenosisScheme
The figures show an inflammatory stenosis caused by acute pancreatitis. The CT scan demonstrated an inflammatory tumor. At endoscopy (duodenoscope) the duodenal lumen is recognizable at the bottom of the photo showing a severe stenosis. Risk of perforation in this situation is high, since the scope is advanced through the pylorus in a blind way. Contrast enhanced X-ray studies document a severe stenosis of the postbulbar duodenum. After successful treatment (4 weeks) of the pancreatitis duodenal passage was uneventful (not shown).
